Introduction of the J.S.S.E. 科展簡介

聯校科展之成立，目的是提高大眾對科學的興趣、促進知識的交流和鼓勵中學之間的合作。第一屆聯校科學展覽籌備委員會，於一九六八年由香港大學化學系主任彭勵德教授成立，那一年的科展由十間中學聯合主辦。

踏入第十屆的聯校科展，已在社會建立起良好的聲譽 ，而主辦學校亦躍升至二十餘間。同時，聯校科展正式註冊成為法定團體，肯定了科展在法律上的地位。那一年，我們十分榮幸邀請到麥理浩 爵士擔任開幕儀式的主禮嘉賓，這可說是歷屆科展中最值得紀念的事情 。此外，由第二十三屆的聯校科展開始，籌備委員會每年都邀請外國隊 伍參展，增加不同背景的學生文化和學術之間的交流。  

今年，聯校科展已是第四十一屆。一直以來，科展得以順利舉行，全賴得到科學館、各專上院校、各贊助商、委員學校及參賽學校的鼎力支持。在此我們對有關人士表達由衷謝意，希望來年仍然能夠得到您們的支持。  

The establishment of Joint School Science Exhibition (J.S.S.E.) aims at arousing public interest in science, fostering scientific research, as well as encouraging cooperation among local schools. The Joint School Science Exhibition Preparation Committee (J.S.S.E.P.C.) was founded by Professor Payne, Dean of Department of Chemistry of the University of Hong Kong in 1968. At that time, the J.S.S.E.P.C., with only ten member schools, was a pioneer of joint school functions in Hong Kong.  

The 10th Anniversary, the preparation committee was officially registered as a non-profit making organization and the number of member schools rose to more than twenty. It was our pleasure to have Sir Maclehose as our Guest of Honour in the opening ceremony that year. These two remarkable achievements made the 10th J.S.S.E. one of the most memorable in our history. In addition, J.S.S.E.P.C. has been inviting teams from overseas since the 23rd J.S.S.E. so as to promote cross-cultural communication and academic exchange between students of different backgrounds.　

This year, the 41st Joint School Science Exhibition will be held. Without the support from Hong Kong Science Museum, tertiary institutes, our sponsors, member schools and participating schools, the former exhibitions would not have been successful. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt gratitude to their kind assistances and we hope that they will continue to support us in the coming years.
